Query Your Subscription

If you ever want to find out what the BRAINTMR listserv has for your subscription options (for example, are you on MAIL, NOMAIL, REPRO, etc?), send a "QUERY BRAINTMR" message. Here's how to do it:

Send an email to Listserv@mitvma.mit.edu
Put in the text body: Query Braintmr
Send it off, and soon (within a few minutes) you should get a confirmation.

Changing Topics

BRAINTMR has been divided into 5 topics, in addition to the general posts that are available to all. The topics were set up to satisfy those whose interests were confined to the subject matter within each topic, or those who may have been dissatisfied with the overall quantity of the posts that go to the list.

The 5 topics are:

  1. Medical
  2. Support
  3. Pediatric
  4. Humor
  5. Intro

When subscribers first comes to the list, they're sent the total number of posts that go to the list (ALL). However, if a person only wishes to receive one topic and no other, for instance, Medical:

  1. send a message to: LISTSERV@MITVMA.MIT.EDU
  2. with no subject, if possible, and the following message in the body: set braintmr topics -ALL set braintmr topics +MEDICAL

You will get a confirmation of the change via e-mail from the server. To set your topics to SUPPORT, do 1 and 2 above, but use SUPPORT instead of MEDICAL. Likewise with PEDIATRIC, HUMOR, or INTRO

  • To remove a topic from your options, such as MEDICAL, do 1 and 2 above, but put -MEDICAL instead of +MEDICAL
  • To return to receiving all posts, do 1 and 2 above, but use +ALL in the topics.
  • To send a post only to the topic, start the SUBJECT: line with the name of the topic, followed by a colon (:). A reply to that post will automaticly go to the topic. (For example, Subject: Medical: New Research)
