BRAINTMR List
The Healing Exchange BRAIN TRUST runs a number of
online support groups. For more information about our
other mailing lists and online support groups, take a
look at out Other Support
Groups section.
The BRAINTMR list (BRAINTMR@mitvma.mit.edu) is a forum
to discuss topics related to all types of brain tumors
whether labeled "benign" or "malignant."
Information and experience is shared among brain tumor
patients, their families & supporters, all kinds of
concerned medical and allied health professionals**,
medical educators, and researchers who study brain tumor
growth or treatment.
**(Interested health professionals include:
neurosurgeons, nurses, social workers, primary care
physicians, pathologists, oncologists, psychologists,
rehabilitation therapists etc.)
BRAINTMR is open to all and is moderated, not edited.
There is no charge for this service. If you are

Here are just a few examples of how BRAINTMR is used:
- For patients and families dealing with the same
tumor type to "meet"
- To find out WHO is doing WHAT brain tumor
research
- To address emotional aspects of patients' brain
tumor treatment
- To discuss the impact of brain tumors on
individuals, society and the practice of medicine
- To discuss other intracranial malformations (such
as the AVM)
BRAINTMR was initiated in October 1992 by Samantha J.
Scolamiero, a brain tumor survivor. It came on-line May
15, 1993. There are about 1000 active subscriptions from
six continents on the list. These include several
redistribution lists and individual subscriptions for
entire research organizations and brain tumor foundations.
There are on average 50-100 messages per day. Many people
generously offer their expertise and experiences to
provide information and support. Anyone willing to talk
about brain tumors is welcome to expand our discussions.
