intro, support slow recovery after removal of benign tumor

My 18 year old daughter had surgery 4 months ago to remove a pilocytic astrocytoma tumor (benign) from her cerebellum. The tumor was quite close to the brain stem. The neurosurgeon said she would recover completely but her balance is still impaired, her speech is still slurred and her intonation is off, and the coordination of her right hand is still limited. Besides all this, she is in a depression and refuses to longer go to therapy or counseling (she is taking remeron but it is hard to say if it is having any effect). Does anyone one have any kind of similiar experience? I have trouble believing that she will ever be back to "normal" and have difficulty seeing any improvements in her condition. thank you.
