just thought id share with you that my ex husband had a glioblastoma multiforme grade four. He was diagnosed in March of 2001 and died of it in March 2001. Just months earlier he seemed fine... then suddenly he had problems with his speech. he was 55 years old ...I can not believe how fast this type of tumor can grow. He had the best neuro surgeon-neuro oncologist in Orlando FL.. he told us that it had only been there for a few months! can u imagine that? in 1999 he had a perfectly normal MRI of the brain.. the doctor attempted surgery and removed about 1\2 of the tumor he implanted chemo chips called glio chips in the tumor cavity during the surgery, however 2 days after the surgery there was a lot of brain swelling.. maybe from the chemo chips ..they dont know anyway we ended up with a choice to take him back to surgery to remove part of the brain with the potential that he could live longer but maybe not have his speech or eyesight as a result of the second surgery.. so we elected to allow him to die with dignity.. my advice to you... just love and enjoy him.. dont miss an opportunity to express your feelings.. and dont take away any quality of life that he may have by thinking there is some miracle cure for this kind of brain tumor..I know its hard but the reality of it is that most people only live an average of 8 months after diagnosis.. God bless you my heart goes out to you.. really... take care of yourself
