My husband, Billy has a GBM and is now approaching end stage. He first presented with symptoms (seizures, confusion, hallucinations, speech and memory problems) in May 1999, and was initially diagnosed as having encephalitis. We didn't find out it was GBM until Jan 2000. Billy has had 2 de-bulkings, radiotherapy, and some chemotherapy, but all treatment has now ceased. He is paralysed down his left side, and is blind in his left eye (tumour in right temporal lobe). He is in no pain, and doesn't appear to be in any distress, but I need to know what happens now, as health professionals are very coy. Will he just slip into a coma, or have a huge seizure, or something different altogether? If anyone can bear to tell me of their experiences as carers/relatives I would really appreciate it. I feel very alone in all of this, and my love goes out to everyone affected by this terrible disease.
